Artwork Description

"Tempest" explores the dichotomy of internal storms, using the metaphor of a tempestuous ocean. The woman superimposed on the storm symbolizes the complex nature of human emotions and struggles. From one perspective, the turbulent waves reflect inner turmoil and challenges. Yet, akin to a storm's transformative potential, this chaos also signifies burgeoning strength, resilience, and the drive for change. The storm's aftermath, a tranquil sea, represents the inevitable calm and growth that follows adversity. The piece prompts viewers to contemplate their own storms—how they perceive and navigate personal struggles—and invites them to find strength and purpose within, embracing the transformative power of adversity. Ultimately, "Tempest" challenges perspectives and illuminates the beauty and growth that emerge from within the tempestuous heart. This piece was the recipient of the Fly Arts Alliance Queensland Regional Art People's Choice Award 2023.

Framed in a stunning black wood frame with delicate gold detailing on the inner edge. Double matt, white with black inner trim. See pics for details.

Artist Bio

I am a British coloured pencil artist now residing in the beautiful hinterland of Queensland Australia. Through vibrant and intricate work that challenges my innate drive for detail, I want to evoke emotion and to create a resonance with the viewer. To allow them to take a moment to look within, to their most authentic selves and to question what they are presenting to the world. I am inspired by my own lived experiences and my keen observations of the world and people around me. Creating art that allows and invites you to pause and take a moment to reflect, to me, is essential in this fast paced world. I hope that my work brings as much joy to your home as it gives to my heart to create it. Thank you x
