Don’t you just love a cheeky pelican. They sit wading through the ocean waters watching the fisherman cast a line from the jetty. Ready to pounce and steal whatever they can.

It was this cheeky attitude that inspired me to paint an abstract pelican painting. Although animals are not my typical style, I have a passionate love for them. Therefore every year it is typical for me to challenge myself and paint an abstract animal.

This year it has been a whale and pelican as I extend my beach theme collection. Previous years it has been birds, flamingos and jellyfish. So for all the animal lovers out there, that also love a beach theme, this painting is a great consideration for your space.

Beautiful mild greens and powdery blues have been used in an abstract format in the background. This represents the sea and plant life. In the centre is the gorgeous, cheeky pelican. Front and centre with his black wings and white fluffy chest he looks down into the ocean. However if you look into his eyes, you can see his personality. That cheeky pelican is not only watching the fish but watching you.

A textured painting using impasto paints, with small imprints of palette knife strokes adds to the stunning effect of this painting. So for all the nature lovers out there, be quick and grab your piece of serenity.

You will find my work is generally more abstract figurative in nature, but I often also delve back to painting straight abstract. In fact ,most years I create a new series for my portfolio, encompassing a different theme and style to other years. I love this fun freedom of being able to paint what comes naturally. To see what wonderful ride my imagination takes me on each series. This allows my true spirit to shine and create the right energy for each work I create. After all life is too short to be boring to paint the same style over and over, so lets jazz it up a bit!

Although my work is often a real statement piece capturing your senses with a stunning visual experience, I want you to experience more than just beauty.
