About Linear I – Line Art Painting Gentleman 1920s Black and White
When you can’t travel to New York, why not surround yourself with New York style artwork! Linear I encompasses all things New York. Style, design, glamour, influence.

This line art drawing in charcoal is a modern technique using near continual lines. This allows the story and image to flow as one and join together to become a figurative man. The black and white provides class with simplicity and is suggestive of the past. Afterall the 1920s was still premature to the colour photo.

Inspired by the 1920’s era where traditions were upheld and values respected. A time where men were courteous and honourable. All you need to do is think back to some old black and white photos from yester year. What stands out to you?

For me I’d always see a well presented man. The subject would always look their best. For the title of gentleman brings with it good posture, well groomed hair, impeccable dress code and a strong presence. All of these characteristics of a 1920s gentleman have been captured in my painting.

Linear I has a real debonaire presence about him. The first in the series, this is currently the last remaining piece. The other 7 in the series have been snapped up by collectors so this is your chance to get an on trend original.

You will find my work is generally more abstract figurative in nature, but I often also delve back to painting straight abstract. In fact ,most years I create a new series for my portfolio, encompassing a different theme and style to other years. I love this fun freedom of being able to paint what comes naturally. To see what wonderful ride my imagination takes me on each series. This allows my true spirit to shine and create the right energy for each work I create. After all life is too short to be boring to paint the same style over and over, so lets jazz it up a bit!

Although my work is often a real statement piece capturing your senses with a stunning visual experience, I want you to experience more than just beauty. I want you to feel the story behind the strokes of paint. I want to take you on an emotional, connective journey with my arts powerful story.
