Sarah is an artist hailing from semi-rural Queensland, drawing inspiration from the serenity of surrounding trees, animals, and calming colours that bring a sense of peace and groundedness, and feeling a deep desire to capture these feelings on canvas.
As a career practictioner, she tirelessly promotes self-efficacy, resilience, determination, optimism and hope in the pursuit of creating a fulfilling life, and these principles underpin her approach to art. With two young children watching on, Sarah shares with them her sense of achievement when her pieces are successful, and determination, acceptance or adaptability when they don't go so right (it's 50/50!). We can paint over them, add another layer, or accept that it was simply a learning experience: a lesson to be carried with us throughout our lives.
Before becoming a career practictioner, Sarah completed studies in interior design, which is where her journey into art began. She felt drawn to the lessons in colour theory and design principles, and felt compelled to pick up a paintbrush for the first time in many years. After some years of casual painting, self-guided learning and fear of putting herself out there, Sarah's style has evolved into one of confident simplicity: a capture of a simple moment that otherwise goes unnoticed, from sunlight on the grass, to the morning's coffee or a tear in the eye of a poddy calf on her father-in-law's farm. Sarah follows her mood as it dictates the style of each piece: from refined to expressive, moody to colourful, simple to detailed.
