Artwork Description

The unique Boab tree is a focal point of a majority of my current work. The characteristic tree of the Kimberley has evolved over the years within my painting and now embodies the feminine spirit. It depicts our often forgotten connection to Mother Nature and the Earth, her outstretched arms are all encompassing much like a mother and her child

Artist Bio

Originally from the UK, Sarah trained and worked as an illustrator before travelling to Australia in 2002 on a round the world trip. She instantly fell in love with the Kimberley outback, most notably the iconic Boab tree and continues to paint the colourful contemporary landscapes inspired from WA’s North. Her work has a surrealist quality and she sees the Boab representing the feminine spirit and uses the ancient tree to convey emotions, relationships and our connection to nature. Now permanently residing in Perth and a longstanding member of the artist run Robertson Park Artist Studio, Sarah exhibits extensively throughout WA and has work in private collections across the world. Sarah has also seen a return to her former life as an illustrator and has recently illustrated two books with another one planned for later this year.
