Artwork Description

Saxa and Keens is a still life study inspired by two pantry staples found in countless Australian households. Through the careful observation of Saxa Salt and Keen’s Mustard, the painting reflects on the shared experiences and cultural touchstones that quietly connect many Australians. These familiar products, present in family kitchens for generations, become symbols of collective memory, nostalgia, and everyday ritual.

Artist Bio

Sarah Neuman is a painter and illustrator based in South-East Queensland. Inspired by music, pop culture, and folk art, she uses painting, illustration, and a “soup” of mixed-media techniques to explore themes of nostalgia, quiet contemplation, and melancholy. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts from the University of Southern Queensland. When she’s not art making, you’ll likely find her rummaging through op shops, markets, and antique stores, or playing guitar (badly).
