This painting is based on the immediate corporeal reactions after I go on explorative hikes. Prior to my spinal surgery, a simple action such as walking typically left me in pain and breathless. After I've corrected my scoliosis, I didn't want to take the action of walking for granted not only took up hiking, but did a particuarly memorable and lengthy hike on the anniversary of my surgery.
