Artwork Description

Oil on wood, ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

This painting is part of a three part series involving the male body during phases of insomnia. While insomnia is unpleasant to cope with, instead of approaching the negative impacts of sleeplessness through a stereotypical lens, I noticed a corporeal aesthetic of the body during the sleepless juncture and was fascinated into translating it into paintings.

A female figure sitting on a bed quietly enjoying the summer warmth. She is holding a handheld fan. The light from the window streams through the fan, casting a shadow and alight patterns onto her leg.
