Artwork Description

"For generations, my family bred Merino sheep for wool production. I have been exploring the sense of loss felt when we look around at where we've set down roots. Potentially undoing the very thing that attracts us to the site - a pristine landscape and an endless scope of untapped possibility."

Artist Bio

Sarah is an award winning contemporary artist, based in Bendigo, regional Victoria. You can visit her Art studio and Gallery or enjoy a workshop in the heart of Bendigo's Arts precinct, 18 View Street.
Mining fields of historical and cultural data, scuffing around in the detritus of the past, she exposes clues as to the landscape and environment of the time. Sarah challenges herself by working with a variety of materials, from gouache to gunpowder, as she explores each new body of work.
"My most recent joy has come from painting like no one is watching, abstracting images of life on the farm.... the sounds, smells, temperature and memory of place and time....I'm learning to balance the skills of my hands with the knowledge held in my head and my heart. I hope you will see a part of yourself reflected there too. A colour, a memory... I love that Art can sweetly shine a light our personal story, without giving anything away".
