Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

Escalator is an intuitive abstract, a textured work in oil using palette knife, overlaid with iridescent oil pastels and glazed in transparent orange. This is a process driven work from within, and has been through many stages, culminating in it's final glazing. The end result can be interpreted by the view, but to me seemed reminiscent of characters riding an escalator to who knows where!

You can run your hands over the top of The Wall and feel the texture, giving the impression of running your hands through the water on the wall at the NGV.You can run your hands over Fade Away to feel it - also each time you look and in different lights you will see different images within it.If you run your hands over The Void you can feel the bumps and crevices and get a sense of its motion. It is abstract so everyone will make their own narrative in response to the work.
