The Void is an abstract image - textured, layered oil paint and pastel over the top of a rough surface. Paint has been scraped over and scraped back to create dark crevices and motion. The inspiration behind this piece was a canvas that needed reworking and some leftover paint - it's part of a n ongoing series I call "The Recyclers" - I run an adult art teaching studio and we often have paint left over, so rather than discard it I like to find a new lease of life for it in these works.
Sarah Weaver 14 artworks | 2 Sold Follow Contact Sarah I am an oil painter specialising in impasto palette knife techniques, I also love producing glazed and monochrome work. My favourite subjects are the wild oceans of Tasmania and our beautiful trees, and I find myself foraying into more abstract renditions as time goes on. I have been exhibiting my art around Southern Tasmania since the 1980s in group and solo exhibitions and my work is in collections statewide, interstate and overseas. My time is divided between my own artistic practice and tutoring in oil painting and other mediums at my studio in Hobart - Jackson. Commissions are very welcome.
