A young lorikeet landed in our garden, it came up to me and climbed up onto my shoulder. We fed it water and nectar, and it unfortunately went to sleep and never woke up. It was so beautiful; my children couldn’t stop staring at its colourful and perfectly intact body. We buried it with some wildflower seeds. It briefly came into our lives and I feel it was a reminder of the beauty in life and the immediacy of death. I had to record its stillness in a way that showed just how radiant and unforgettable it was.
