This painting is inspired by my close up photography of Australian flora and fauna.

Artist Bio

Scarlett Stokoe (b. 2002) is a multidisciplinary Artist born in Sydney on Gadigal Land. She grew up in Ashfield, on Wangal country, and has lived there her whole life. Stokoe’s works spans across sculpture, photography, drawing and painting. Stokoe is currently working on creating her own "odd of all oddities the earth and sea has ever produced", forming and combining organisms to construct her own species. She takes inspiration from nature, in particular, Australian Native Flora and Sea Life. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in sculpture at the National Art School, Darlinghurst, NSW.

In the last couple of years Stokoe has exhibited throughout Sydney. Her most recent includes a solo show, I am known to daydream too much, at Scratch Art Space in February 2024. Stokoe’s most recent group shows group include Uneven Terrain: Surveying the Landscape at Gallery Lane Cove, The Grad show at National art School and Blue Supresses dimension at Saywell Gallery.

Stokoe’s most recent achievement is becoming a finalist in the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize at the South Australian Museum. She has also recently been awarded Peoples choice and highly commended in the Feel Good Art Prize at Quadrant Gallery. Stokoe are also has to opportunity to successfully run her own Plant Creature workshops at NAS NEO and The Other Art Fair Sydney.
