Artwork Description

Tramatic is artwork #76 in the Hapi Mex series. The daily rush can sometimes feel like the passing world is all out of perspective. This piece of work is of the charming trams that have delivered millions of Australian workers to their daily destinations on time. They are the central vein of nostalgia in a city.
In this piece the surrounding has been intentionally disrupted while the tram remains steady and central.

Artist Bio

I am a QLD raised child of the 70's who goes under the name "Hapi Mex for most of my artwork. My real name is Scott Fletcher.
The works I produce definitely depict the era of the 70's with native and faded colours to reflect old style billboards.
There is fun, quirks and even scandal hidden amongst it all.

My art interest was always in the background and started to pop out by sketching a little character of my own who became Hapi Mex.
If you follow my instagram, (hapi_mex) you can see the journey of self-education and upskilling.
It is a journey of progression which began with digital sketching on my phone of all things and let to the pencil, and eventually the canvas.

The 'Hapi Mex' pieces are cheeky bright pop out fun. He has a life of his own, yet you never see his face!
There are works that depict my love of our country, presenting worn out surfaces, metals, faded colours and things that put Australia on the map. Hard work, innovation, and 2 days off on the weekends!
Some of my heritage pieces 'unhide' famous scandals from our sporting and constructive past. (Fine Cotton Affair, Cloudland and the likes).

Clearly, I do enjoy motorsport and present many pieces depict famous machines hand painted on vintage aged wood that may look as if the paintings had been long hidden in a barn.
The motorsport images respect the engineering, beauty and bravery of all who sought to be the fastest. Mercedes, BMW, Porsche and the events they made famous. Mille Miglia, Isle of Man and Lemans.

The journey is a thrill and ongoing.
