There's a dichotomy playing out in this painting, hot and cold, near and far, ice and fire. I have a fascination with volcanoes and lava. There is something about the molten lava being from the core working out of the surface, the power, heat and force is immense. I added a surreal twist to this work by painting the sky area in an unrealistic way but still toned realistically. It's a great painting, l love it.
