All Quiet in the Ocean

For me, this artwork evokes a dichotomy of emotions. On one hand, there is the simplistic environment, the calm of the sea, and the muted colours that give a sense of ease. On the other hand, there are the foreboding clouds and the threat of sunset that signify a sense of danger.

Emily paints with acrylic and watercolour, often layered with impasto, to create an additional depth to her work.

Emily draws inspiration from her memories of early childhood, growing up in the rural QLD suburb of Maleny. She currently works from her studio in Brisbane City
