Artwork Description

New Beginnings reflects the quiet resilience that follows change. A solitary figure bends gently toward the ground, caught in a moment of effort and care. This posture speaks to humility and persistence — the unseen work required to start again.

The sun hangs high and steady, offering warmth rather than urgency, while the small flower emerging from the soil becomes the emotional centre of the painting. It represents growth that is modest yet determined, a reminder that beginnings are often fragile and easily overlooked.

Bold, simplified forms and saturated colour give the scene a sense of optimism and clarity. The figure’s curved stance contrasts with the openness of the sky, suggesting a balance between labour and hope, grounding and possibility. Texture and visible brushwork emphasise the handmade, imperfect nature of renewal.

This painting is about tending to what comes next — nurturing small moments of growth with patience and belief. New Beginnings invites the viewer to slow down, to honour the effort behind transformation, and to trust that something meaningful can emerge, even from the simplest acts of care.

Artist Bio

Shane Bonsujet is a visual artist based and working out of his studio in Melbourne.

Shanes art often draws on lived experiences and memories that explore themes of psychology, growth, empowerment and discovery forming a deep connection with viewers.

Emotive, expressive, intuitive and playful, Shane's paintings are inspired by many influences such as the natural world, existentialism and philosophy that create a balance and duality between depth in concept and naïve appearance. Bold colours and expressive brushwork create an open dancefloor for curious mark making, naïve characters, patterns, symbols and motifs that balance abstraction and various other styles and references.

Shanes paintings are held in public and private collections all over the country and internationally, and has been a finalist in various notable art prizes and exhibited in several exhibitions, group shows and art fairs.
