Artwork Description

I wanted to draw something that captured the way I feel about living in my home country of Australia. I would bet that every Australian has seen a fluffy kookaburra perched somewhere above the ground, enjoying the scenery and waiting for their mates. I was especially drawn to the way the kookaburra is not just sitting on a tree branch, but instead a metal fence that almost every person in Australia could recognise.

The image is based on a copyright-free photograph taken by Mikaela Egan and I'm thankful for her wonderful eye.

Artist Bio

I’m an Australian based artist whose love of coloured pencils didn’t stop in preschool! I have been taking art more seriously for the last three years, but I began teaching myself how to draw over ten years ago. I have experience with oil paints and acrylics, however, I now primarily produce art using prismacolour pencils.

Until recently I have drawn only as a hobby but am looking to branch out and make a business out of something that brings me a lot of joy.
