Artwork Description

This work was inspired as I walked across a road. Looking down, I noticed the peculiar rhythm of a section of painted traffic island, angled into its curved marking edge, with road reflectors dotted on each side of the line. A usually strict, formal type of signage but viewed this way, revealing strange counterpoints (the lines with 'dots'), that needed a sort of softening & warming up, for its final realisation!

Note: My works don't require framing. Edges of the frame are painted matte black.
However, people may decide to frame them anyway (personal choice).

Artist Bio

Urban, abstract artist.
My passion is to explore the colours, patterns and textures of city environments. What are the emotional effects of the built surrounds on us?
I work with oils and industrial mixed media, on canvas.
So, for added authenticity, I like to mix gritty construction materials directly into the paint itself, including discarded items and everyday familiar fragments of our lives - as visual jolts and surprises.
To take a deep, close-up look at the traces of our humanity, within the dense urban overlay - to re-discover what resonates.
To seek-out unusual compositions. To incorporate found designs. To discover & share a ‘new music’ exuding from the pavements and plate glass windows, the cracks & peeling paint - recognisable things we so often pass by unnoticed. A deeper take into making sense of how all the parts fit together.
Diving into the 'beauty & the trauma' of it all!
