Artwork Description

This heavily textured oil painting is in the unusual round format to soften edges and enhance the abstract impressionist feel of this lovely seascape. The ocean beach is wild and open to the elements. This expressive artwork captures that feeling and the round format contributes to the big sky and sense of nature in motion. It’s as if you’re looking through the lens on a camera as the waves and sand stretch endlessly before you. Edges and sides are painted, removing the need for framing unless desired. There is a discreet short signature at the bottom right.

Detailed Image description: Painted with oils on wooden board. A soft sand bank on the left foreground leads the viewer into this long golden ocean beach. It is open to the elements with wide, foamy waves that stretch endlessly out to a deep blue sea. In the bottom third, deep blue and turquoise ocean waves sweep from the right, curving along the beach to a narrow rocky outcrop in the distance.
The sky clouds are curving, dynamic and dramatically coloured. At the very top is a hazy soft greeny blue, quickly melting into sweeps of orange, pink and yellow across the top third of the painting. It’s like looking through a porthole or a camera lens.
Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from this BlueThumb 'Pro' artist.

Artist Bio

Words like 'joyful' and 'vibrant' are used often to describe Sharon DeSailly's contemporary paintings. Use of brilliant colours in oils and acrylics, and bold texture are recognisable elements in her style. So is her great love of the Australian countryside and way of life. As a full time artist living in Bayside, Melbourne, as well as being an avid traveller within Australia and abroad, she finds abundant inspiration and drive to pay tribute to the beauty surrounding us in our everyday life. Through her paintings, the viewer is invited to step into each scene to 'be there' in an almost tactile way.

DeSailly's contemporary impressionist approach lends itself to any subject. Her gallery transports the viewer from the long distance perspective of a vivid seaside sunset, to highly textured trees against the intense rich hues and powerful rock formations in outback Australia; to beautiful fragrant flowers in riotous cottage gardens; to a koala clinging to a gum tree, or a flock of playful cockatoos.

Paintings by Sharon DeSailly celebrate all living beauty. Through her original works of art, DeSailly brings joy into the homes and lives of collectors across Australia and in several countries around the world. She is recognised as a Featured Pro Artist on BlueThumb and exhibits at art shows around the country. Sharon is Vice President of the Brighton Art Society.
