Artwork Description

This painting was inspired by visits to Litchfield National Park near Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory where there is an amazing variation of terrain, colours and natural beauty. There are plenty of waterfalls and waterholes to swim in as long as the crocs haven't taken up residence for the day. It is a beautiful swimming and hiking area, and some brave people can't resist the urge to take the leap.

The palette for this contemporary impressionist Australian landscape is predominantly warm and rich. This captures the mood of the scene, helping to create balance and positive energy to complement the story while connecting us to this hot landscape. This painting offers viewers the experience of bring nature indoors, in all her magnificence...a sense of ‘being there‘ as part of the story...a joyful leap.

Comes ready to hang, with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Artist Bio

Words like 'joyful' and 'vibrant' are used often to describe Sharon DeSailly's contemporary paintings. Use of brilliant colours in oils and acrylics, and bold texture are recognisable elements in her style. So is her great love of the Australian countryside and way of life. As a full time artist living in Bayside, Melbourne, as well as being an avid traveller within Australia and abroad, she finds abundant inspiration and drive to pay tribute to the beauty surrounding us in our everyday life. Through her paintings, the viewer is invited to step into each scene to 'be there' in an almost tactile way.

DeSailly's contemporary impressionist approach lends itself to any subject. Her gallery transports the viewer from the long distance perspective of a vivid seaside sunset, to highly textured trees against the intense rich hues and powerful rock formations in outback Australia; to beautiful fragrant flowers in riotous cottage gardens; to a koala clinging to a gum tree, or a flock of playful cockatoos.

Paintings by Sharon DeSailly celebrate all living beauty. Through her original works of art, DeSailly brings joy into the homes and lives of collectors across Australia and in several countries around the world. She is recognised as a Featured Pro Artist on BlueThumb and exhibits at art shows around the country. Sharon is Vice President of the Brighton Art Society.
