Artwork Description

It’s an overwhelming feeling standing at the base of Uluru and staring upward in awe as it dips into shadow and rises towards the sky all around you. The sheer size of it is overwhelming, as you walk at its base among the fragrant flora of bloodwoods, eucalypts, desert oak trees and spinifex. Feeling a deep connection to this place and to nature all inspired me to paint this scene following a recent visit to Uluru Kata Tjuṯa National Park. There’s no exaggeration here - the colours really are that vibrant and are an absolute joy to witness in person. Through expressive use of colour, loose movement and texture I’ve aimed to express the feeling of this awesome place and moment in time.

This oil contemporary Australian landscape is painted with layers of professional pigments, on a quality custom made stretched canvas, oil varnished for protection. It has been professionally framed in black by Fantastic Framing in the same style as offered on this site. So being already framed, the saving to you is substantial.

Comes ready to hang with a Certificate Of Authenticity from this established BlueThumb ‘Featured Artist’.
NB: Hung images are indicative only so please do your own measurements in your space.

Artist Bio

Words like 'joyful' and 'vibrant' are used often to describe Sharon DeSailly's contemporary paintings. Use of brilliant colours in oils and acrylics, and bold texture are recognisable elements in her style. So is her great love of the Australian countryside and way of life. As a full time artist living in Bayside, Melbourne, as well as being an avid traveller within Australia and abroad, she finds abundant inspiration and drive to pay tribute to the beauty surrounding us in our everyday life. Through her paintings, the viewer is invited to step into each scene to 'be there' in an almost tactile way.

DeSailly's contemporary impressionist approach lends itself to any subject. Her gallery transports the viewer from the long distance perspective of a vivid seaside sunset, to highly textured trees against the intense rich hues and powerful rock formations in outback Australia; to beautiful fragrant flowers in riotous cottage gardens; to a koala clinging to a gum tree, or a flock of playful cockatoos.

Paintings by Sharon DeSailly celebrate all living beauty. Through her original works of art, DeSailly brings joy into the homes and lives of collectors across Australia and in several countries around the world. She is recognised as a Featured Pro Artist on BlueThumb and exhibits at art shows around the country. Sharon is Vice President of the Brighton Art Society.
