Working from her studio in Bondi, Australia, Sharon is a figurative artist who explores the unspoken language revealed through the expression and compositions of the human body and their relationships with nature. Having worked as a magazine editor for many years, Sharon’s eye is keenly trained to create images that instantly connect with her audience. “The eyes need to say something to you. I love to capture the gentle unseen presence of a person – the soul I suppose.” Having co-founded and led both a successful publishing company and a professional design studio over a period of 20 years, Sharon left behind her entrepreneurial career in February 2017 to pursue her lifelong passion of drawing and painting. Her Map Series marks her first series as a professional artist. Having travelled the world a few times over Sharon loves the nostalgic feeling evoked by old maps. “They seem to speak of all the roads and the people who have travelled them. They kind of represent all of human life to me. All of the places we live and the things we do there, so it felt right to me to use them as a base for my paintings.”
