During Sharon's artistic development constantly trying-on and shedding of styles, Sharon's journey has been varied from contemporary, lyrical abstract expressionism to Stylised Street Art to Patterns and Decoration.
Sharon is self taught and loves finding new things to try out in her paintings and is inspired by collage, poster and digital art. Preferring to work flat on unprimed, unstretched, 12oz. premium cotton canvas gives Sharon the freedom to use many techniques to apply the paint such as; drawing, staining, pouring, dripping, brushing, spraying, scraping, smearing and stenciling. Working the painting up in layers. However, the characteristics of unstretched canvas may remain, i.e., creases and lines after stretching and become part of the character of the painting.
Sharon freely uses mixed media such as charcoal, pastel, alcohol ink, acrylic paint and water based acrylic spray paint. When finished, each painting is sealed with a satin acrylic varnish.
A lot of people are looking for "meaning" in my paintings. I don't mean anything. Any meaning they may have is purely created by the observer and their own imaginings.
