This is one of my absolute favourites! I loved doing this, inspired from a photo sent by my cousin in Zimbabwe, and our lives growing up in what was Salisbury, Rhodesia at the time (now Harare). Her children are still visited by the ice cream man, and the joy of his visits have spanned the decades, as I remember doing this exact same thing as a child, standing on the wheel with bare feet, partly to see inside and partly because the tar on the road burnt our feet! And the gush of cold air as he opened the freezer lid.. and the anticipation of what treats were inside and the agony of which one to choose! The Coles freezer experience just isn't the same! This is created in soft pastels on pastel paper.

Artist Bio

I am a self taught artist, having had a love for art from a young age. I am inspired greatly by my African heritage, I was born in Zimbabwe and later moved with my family to Cape Town, South Africa, and settled in Australia after travelling the world as a young adult.

I have spent the last 27 years in a corporate career, however have recently made a move back to art and am going to see where it takes me, an exciting new journey at this point in my life!

I love portraying wildlife and nature, and also the cultural aspects of countries and people. I mostly use pastels as a medium, however I like I like challenging my skills and exploring all mediums and subject matter to see what I can achieve. I like my work to speak to something, to capture a mood or convey meaning. Creating art is my happy place!

I hope you enjoy my work.
