I am a largely self taught artist, still experimenting with style and technique. I am priveleged in my professional work as a doctor to share in the highs and lows of people's lives:
Birth, fear,
uncertainty, psychosis,
Cancer.,
palliation, conflict...
Mania, Pain,
Depression.
These experiences inform my work as I try to depict and understand the human condition, and our interactions with one another and with our environment.
I work mostly with acrylic paint, preferring to work fast and to mix colours on the canvas. My art develops organically, taking on a life of its own . I use a limited palette (mostly) and am not trying to create artwork that is realistic or photographic in nature. I prefer the audience to have scope to impose their own interpretation of the work .
