Artwork Description

Graphite and Watercolour.
This work was inspired by an expression on my sons face. It seemed disappointed and sad. It reminded me of an angel, maybe earthbound or weary of what the world has become. His lack of expression ironically expressed so much to me. The ethereal watercolour was used to suggest wings and a light from above and hopefully told the story.

Artist Bio

I am an Australian artist and work in all media, my favourites being watercolour, charcoal, pastel, graphite and pen and ink.
I have been involved in art for all of my life in some form or another. I am primarily self taught but have formal tertiary qualifications in ‘Design Fundamentals’, which I used to gain entry into a Visual Arts Degree at Western Sydney University. I have had experience in design and publishing of small publications and have worked as an animator for Hanna-Barbera, Burbank Studios and Disney.
My graphite portrait work has been chosen from hundreds of artists worldwide to appear in the hardcover book ‘Art Journey - Portraits and Figures’, an international publication produced by the American publisher, North Light Books. I was also invited to be a signature member of the Artists for Conservation (AFC), one of the world's leading artist groups supporting the environment. I was a featured artist in the May edition of The Australian Artist Magazine, and my work was chosen to appear in Splash 21, published by Peak Productions in the United States . My work was chosen to appear on the cover of "The Best of Watercolor USA" . I have also been published in the French publication "The Art of Watercolour."
I have won numerous prizes for my work in many art shows over the years. I have been fortunate enough to win awards every year since I started exhibiting in 2012.
A large part of my current work is being driven by our endangered wildlife and their habitats. As with all my work, I try to convey emotion through expression and composition. My goal is to communicate this to the viewer, to share my experience with others.
I love painting and drawing people and animals amongst other subjects and I welcome commissions for portraits or any subject you would like. I work from my studio in Sydney NSW, and am happy to accept commissions in watercolour, graphite, charcoal , pastel or pen and ink.
