Artwork Description

"There are memories that don't live in photographs, but in place, emotion, light and scent. This textured roadscape took me down memory lane to the back seat of my dad's car as a kid.

Driving to or from the coast, window down after light Summer rain, over hills through lush valleys...salt still lingering in the warm air that whizzed past.

I didn't have to navigate life. I was simply there. Safe behind my dad's seat, watching the world roll gently past.

This new artwork evokes that same quiet security. The unspoken comfort of being carried. Held. The sky washed in pink and yellow a soft gentle embrace, the light a reminder of hope. The road a metaphor for the journey we all take through life.

I still drive these same roads to the coast and back with my own family now. Each time I'm reminded of my dad who is heaven-side. A gentle tear may swell and I let it fall, but I have a smile on my face and gratitude in my heart, for him, and for all the time shared; memories made back then, for those made since, and for those being made now...and love for those peaceful coastal country roads that continue to carry me home".

Created with palette knives on 500 gsm belgian linen, this pretty and emotive artwork is framed in solid Oak and comes satin varnished. It will come with a COA with the artist statement written on the back.

Artist Bio

“…painting stories evoking light and hope.”

Sharon Rynehart is an impressionist palette knife artist widely recognised for her flowing, expressive style of the sea, land and sky. A former Interior Designer and Colour Consultant, Sharon had health issues a while ago that saw her turn to painting for therapy and healing. Transforming her creative practice into what she now calls ‘heartwork’; emotive, hope-fuelled pieces inspired by faith, connective memory and experience, and the beauty of our Australian coastlines and landscapes. Sharon uses her background in colour theory to create original artworks with beautiful colour harmonies that allow you to reflect on your own story; to finish the train of thought, to remember a time or place, and to explore and feel the emotions they instill. Artworks that are relatable, that invite you to reflect, force an exhale, evoke a sense of calm…and bring you hope.

Sharon enjoyed recent success as a Finalist in Art to Art’s acclaimed “Unearthed” Art Prize, and has been fortunate to have several of her artworks featured on Channel 9’s “The Block” TV show. She has also had pieces featured in Grand Designs Australia Magazine. Sharon has gallery representation in both Brisbane and Melbourne and apart from these galleries, her works can be viewed in person tri-annually at the Affordable Art Fairs in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Now widely collected both in Australia and Internationally, Sharon’s pieces continue to resonate with many, inspiring calm and connection through an uplifting sense of place and emotion. They are a reminder to always look for light and hope…no matter the trials and challenges we all face.
