Artwork Description

With my strong love of nature this work was inspired by the amazing explosive growth in ponds, gardens and nature in general. I recall looking down my father's treasured microscope to watch amoeba in water, into the sea pools and the turtles, fish and eels in the local river. It always seemed such a furiously growing world.
Life exploding in wild variation
The miracle of water, soil, light and air
Furious coupling of chemistry, physics
And the biology of life

Artist Bio

Hi, thanks for checking out my bio.
I have been actively painting for about 10 years working in acrylics on canvas and sometimes on paper, having done some ceramics and played around with various arts and crafts. Painting is my main means of expression though I occasionally write poems.

I started painting at high school but the demands of earning a living diverted me from that dream. I am self-taught with occasional classes at community art groups or private lessons.
My artwork is exploring images arising from dreams and half-waking states. Once I have the basic theme and structure in place the process becomes an exploration, a playing with marks and colour, and trying what works to represent these images and express the meaning or message.

My style for each painting changes to accommodate the image – so some are abstract, some impressionistic, and some structured. I also see the significance in using colour, line and shape to express a vibrancy and energy.
I feel that these images come from my connection to the ‘collective unconscious’. I have always been interested by Carl G Jung’s work and his perspective on the complexity of human beings. Jung’s work highlights common archetypes that cultures across the world share. I hope my images can resonate across cultures and people find them meaningful.

As a Reiki Master, corporate trainer/counsellor/HR consultant I influenced by the seeking of meaning and have a major interest in personal growth and healing. I have written and self-published a self-help workbook.
