Sharon was born on the West Coast of South Australia, and has been interested in art in its many forms throughout her life.
A beautiful hand painted silk bedspread was her inspiration to start painting.
She rushed out and purchased silk, paints, and of course, a book on how to actually do it, and couldn't wait to start.
The first silk painting was a disappointment however - she found she didn't enjoy painting in the traditional manner.
Splooshing on the paint and then using a hairdryer to try to stop it from spreading, was more her thing, and much more exciting, because she never knew quite what the result would be.
Sharon still paints on silk, and has refined her technique, but now also loves to paint with both acrylics and oils. The ocean, reflections, birds, fish and flowers are favorite subjects, but she loves the challenge of attempting new subjects.
Sharon always comments that the most unusual commission she has ever been asked to paint, was the portrait of a prize winning stud ram. She asked the owner if the ram had a special personality, and was assured that yes, he had loads of personality. She just hoped that she would be able to see it!
