Artwork Description

Artist Bio

Sharyn Talbot has had a lifetime interest in art, using a range of media including (but not limited to) watercolour, pen and wash, oils and more recently, charcoal.

When she moved to Brisbane with her husband and two daughters in 1996, she joined the Water Colour Society of Queensland and undertook a number of weekend workshops held by various artists. However, work commitments and family overtook her time, and it wasn’t until after she attended a watercolour class under artist Helen Goldsmith at the MacGregor Art School in Toowoomba in 2008, that her desire to draw and paint more often was refired! She then found a weekend class held by artist Cees Sliedrecht and she immersed herself in conquering the art of pen and wash. One of Cees’s class involved the drawing of birds in charcoal, and her love for that medium came about. In the last couple of years she has also taken oil classes with artist Chris Martin, and more recently has been fine tuning her drawing skills with charcoal artist Ray Coffey. She currently has a passion for producing realistic charcoal portraits and hopes to take on some commissions in the near future. In 2016, she was invited to exhibit with the Raw Artists Association.
Her artwork 'Thoughts in Confusion' was a finalist in the Harry and Agnes Drawing Award 2023.
