The Moment of Conception (A metaphorical description)

Marble forms in specific geological conditions, over hundreds of years. Seemingly innocuous environmental changes lead to the creation of unique variations in the stone. This piece of marble was specifically chosen for its natural beauty.
These variations and inclusions have been the inspiration for the final work, emphasising the vulnerability of conception. The strength and beauty of this stone has been enhanced by these natural distinctions, highlighting the eternal nature of marble.
Like the geological process in which marble is formed, this piece required time and the precise combination of influences to reach its completion.

Shaun is a multidisciplined artist using a variety of mediums to share with you his connection to the elements of the natural world. He works with oils, watercolours, stone, wood and metal to create paintings and sculptures that take glimpses of life and depict the beauty in the imperfect.

Shaun has refined his passion for expression through large and small projects, from working with well known Australian zoos and aquariums to conceptualise designs and bring them to life, to small scale artworks held in private collections.

Shaun currently lives in Torrington in the New England region of NSW where his connection to the land continues to inspire him.
