Artwork Description

Reproduction Print on paper

Signed and numbered on the back.

This piece is intended to be a beautiful and stunning celebration of 2 strong cultures mixing, Samoan & Chinese.

Depicted is a traditional Samoan Kava bowl (which are usually made of heavy wood), made out of traditional Chinese Porcelain (something seen as fragile). It's a play between the contrast of the fragile material used, to build an item that is intended to be used roughly. Which is how I feel the cultures are seen stereotypically in society. Chinese culture being softer, more delicate, dainty and fragile. While the Samoan culture is seen as bigger than most, bulky and tough.
