Artwork Description

Photograph on paper

Signed on the front.

This composite photographic image is one of many from the The Un-Scenes Project. All elements in the image have been photographed by myself over the years and compiled in photoshop to create a new slightly surreal environment for the subject, generally somewhere you wouldn't expect to find it, an un-scene if you like. All images belong to a 3 part themed series in a 16:9 format, have a white border and include a certificate which tells the story and inspiration behind each image.
The title of the print is located bottom centre of white border which can either be included or not when framing.
Each print has a digital signature bottom corner of the image.

This image is one of three from The Plantations Series, inspired from several places south of Cairns that feels like time has stood still. Showcasing an eclectic mix of “art deco” and “streamline moderne” style architecture amongst the tea estates of Nerada tea near Innisfail, North Queensland. Isolating these buildings from their normal street locations lets them stand tall and proud, having survived several major cyclones and intense tropical storms. Sourced from Innisfail, Mirriwinni, Gordonvale, South Johnstone and Mourilyan as either facades or still fully operating buildings in the wettest towns of Australia. The presence of the sea birds indicate the proximity to the ocean and the palms, tea plantations, and stormy skies symbolise the tropics.

Another storm is brewing up, while inside this quirky little house on the hill a teapot is brewing some of the finest tea in the area. Time to go sit out on the verandah with a cuppa, smell the rain and enjoy the break from the humidity.

The Nerada Tea Estates are located in Glen Allyn, just to the west of Innisfail
The cottage is from Mirriwinni, and art deco shop façade from Innisfail.

Several old historical buildings stand together, atop a grassy hill with the dark blue-grey of an impending storm looming above, with a textured overlay.A small weathered shack stands alone atop a grassy hillock. It desperately needs a paint but has so much character. The deep blue sky beyond is streaked with the odd wispy white clouds. An old stone church is placed atop a grassy hillock, bathed in beautiful rays of light streaming from a moody sky. The background has distance dark mountains and a small flock of birds silhouetted against the darkness. An old small library building is accompanied by a small weathered street library perched atop a grassy hillock dotted with grazing sheep. The background sky is dark blue streaked with white clouds.
