This large-scale abstract work was inspired by memories of floating weightlessly on the ocean — suspended between sky and sea, held by rhythm and tide. Layered tones of deep blue move in long, fluid gestures across the canvas, echoing the quiet rise and fall of water. There is a sense of immersion here — of surrendering to something vast, gentle and steady. Subtle shifts in tone suggest depth beneath the surface, like distant currents or the low, haunting song of whales travelling unseen below.
I was drawn to the feeling of effortlessness — that carefree moment when time stretches and the body relaxes completely into nature’s embrace. This piece is less about a specific place and more about a state of being: calm, expansive, and deeply connected to the natural world.
Designed as a statement work, its scale invites the viewer to step in, breathe out, and simply float.
