Artwork Description

Love Tangle is an intimate jewel piece inspired by the serpentine growth of a succulent plant observed in closeup. Soft greens, deep forest tones and blue-green accents twist and unfurl through golden lines, creating a biomorphic rhythm that evokes the geometry of the heart chakra.

The artwork sits between abstraction and botanical study—organic, fluid and luminous. The curving forms feel animated, as though part of an inner landscape as much as a plant’s unfolding life.

Expressive and vigorous yet delicate, the piece captures the vibrant, swirling movement of growth and energy in a contemplative moment. And the whisper of a heart longing and leaning for something, or someone, just around the corner.

BEYOND THE SEE

I paint images that sit somewhere between realism and dreams. I’m influenced by memory, mythology and the magical realist tradition.

Early in my career, I worked as a newspaper photographer and journalist. I inherited from that experience a tendency to crop in hard and look for strong, immediate compositions.

Long periods of travel and immersion in other cultures, particularly in Latin America, opened up for me different ways of experiencing and understanding reality.

The work of Henri Rousseau and Frida Kahlo is among my influences. What draws me to their work is a way of seeing and feeling beyond the surface — allowing imagination, feeling, symbolism and sensuality to coexist with the observed world.
