This painting is part of my Divine Nature series, whispers of nature. I have long visited the beautiful blue gum standing majestically by herself where once along time ago she would’ve been surrounded by natural vegetation. Whilst the area she stands is being revegetated the natural environment struggles with what man planted but it is trying to win. When I look and feel this gum tree I see the tenacity and strength of surviving our modern world. She has broken limbs which lay beneath her like a seat for us to sit admire her. I see her scars of years gone by but yet she stands tall and strong and beautiful being a home for many birds. When I stand beneath her often there is a family of magpies warbling away. She has helped me be strong in times of disheartenment. I feel a great connection and in reflection I see me a survivor of what life brings my way but I’m still standing.
