Midnight Watch

This piece captures a quiet moment by the sea, with a lone lighthouse casting its beam across the dark, starry night. I wanted to create a sense of calm and stillness, a moment of pause and reflection. I have used soft brushwork to blend the colours in the night sky, giving it a soft and dreamy feel, while using palette knife for the water and lighthouse to create a more interesting texture.

I am a self-taught, emerging artist based in WA who uses primarily acrylic paints. I've been artistic since a young age, always carrying a sketchbook with me to school or on vacation. Although I started painting in my early 20s, since becoming a mother I have felt more compelled to take a chance on myself as an artist.
My works are often experimental, intuitively blending elements of abstract with landscape or figurative - depending on my mood or what kind or artwork I'm aiming for.
Currently, I am working through a midnight ocean series.
