Driving back from Phillip Island we came through Victoria's Mt Baw Baw national Park, recently burnt by bushfire. Standing out from a blackened hillside was this alarmingly green tree fern. Surprisingly they appear to be one of the first plants to show recovery. Even though the fire is a terrible event ,the bright green regrowth is a beakon of hope against a sombre backdrop. I painted this canvas while resting it on a table. I wanted to get bright sharp edges around the green regrowth.
