There's a great snowshoe walk from 3 mile dam, that takes you near the base of Mt Selwyn, through the western part of the old Kiandra goldfields. I was taken by the partial snow cover highlighted by a beautiful russet brown plant cover. It gave the snow a real punch. Add an overcast sky and you've got an unusual otherworldly environment of colours and textures, just to my liking! I've applied thick textured acrylic to imply the coarse, rough vegetation that grows in this attractive but unforgiving environment.
