I still remember the moment when my flatmate Ferdinand came to the living room where I was eating, saying “ I would love to get a parrot to keep here, could you come with me to the shop to have a look at them?”
My first response, with no hesitation, was: “Absolutely not, we won’t have a parrot in the house!”
The day after I was at the shop with him and we fell in love with this big pink parrot.
There were so many beautiful birds in that shop. I remember two little yellow and green parrot in front of the entrance door. It seems like they were dancing and kissing each other.
The most impressive one was a king white parrot in the middle of the shop with a beautiful golden crest.
That day, every single bird was very excited, and noisy, and squeaky, and trying to draw our attention.
But our eyes fell upon a cage that looked empty. At the very end of it, in a corner, there was a quiet parrot.
The pink color of his feathers was the brightest pink I’ve ever seen.
When Ferdi went closer to the cage, the parrot started to follow his movements. I felt their connection.
Bonito, the name we gave to him, is the most intelligent, affectionate, and relaxed friend who has ever joined the house.
After a couple of days he was living with us, I decided to dedicate him a portrait.
