Fire in the Heart Ed. 1 of 5

Kids play at Coolangatta under wan sunlight, softly seeping through bush fire smoke. We couldn't know then in 2019 that this was to lead into Black Summer, with fires so massive across Australia, their smoke would circle the globe. As an adult I look at this picture and think about climate change, the future, and the innocent.

Sometimes you feel your subject deeply through the lens. There's a clarity in you as well as in what you see. I love capturing spaces where the inner voice can be heard more clearly, where I feel more connected to what it is to be human in our world. I love to share that. Sometimes I just want to share the wonder I feel looking at the breathtaking and often weird beauty that surrounds us.
