Finalist for the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year 2024 award! Through bush care I witnessed devastation from Black Summer fires across vast areas of Kangaroo Island. But xanthorrhoea is adapted to fire, and this stand not only survived, it flourished. Here we see a rare glimpse from above, in monochrome, to emphasise the timeless form of this tough yet graceful native.
