Artwork Description

Finalist for the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year 2024 award! Through bush care I witnessed devastation from Black Summer fires across vast areas of Kangaroo Island. But xanthorrhoea is adapted to fire, and this stand not only survived, it flourished. Here we see a rare glimpse from above, in monochrome, to emphasise the timeless form of this tough yet graceful native.

Artist Bio

Sometimes you feel your subject deeply through the lens. There's a clarity in you as well as in what you see. I love capturing spaces where the inner voice can be heard more clearly, where I feel more connected to what it is to be human in our world. I love to share that. Sometimes I just want to share the wonder I feel looking at the breathtaking and often weird beauty that surrounds us.
