Artwork Description

Tiger Barong & Dragon is based on the Chinese new year celebration for year of the dragon (2024) it depicts the good fight against evil & shows a disgruntled dragon (who is with his friend the tiger barong ). The meaning behind this symbolism of the strong tiger barong is to protect the dragon against evil , as is the belief of the Indonesian people, the barong is a good spirit and protector in the Indonesian culture.

Artist Bio

Simon linardi as an Artist & Architect, founder of Atelier Cartel (Architecture, design & art). Linardi gained his education at RMIT university & Politecnico di milano, completing a master of architecture & winning the Australia institute of architecture graduate prize in 2011 for his thesis. Linardi has his first major solo exhibition at Warrnambool regional art gallery, Victoria from Feb-Oct 2020 with the installation of ‘The Bull-Cow’ an 11m long inhabitable architectural structure/ sculpture , accompanied by a 35 lineal metre mural in the family gallery space.

Linardi’s paintings and drawings are held in private collections in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, Dubai, Lebanon, Pakistan, India, Italy, Greece, Spain, France, Netherlands & the USA.

Linardi exhibited his paintings & Architectural projects at the Venice International Architecture biennale in 2018, at the unfolding pavilion, which was published into a text format & is available on Amazon.
