‘Practicing collage artist based in Sydney. I m obsessed with this alternative artform for its ability to create beautiful unique narratives .. I love to source all my materials . Nothing is printed but found . Part of collaging is to find the right materials and organically form new works . Love to work with the old masters, vintage, antique and glassware images’ .
Collage art is about exploring with mediums and images. Discovering new ways to explore traditional mediums and put it through a queer lens.
Good art should give the viewer a response - good or bad - a response - a feeling is important . I have been fine tuning my collage practice and put every available free hr into my practice . I’m a full time librarian and immerse myself into finding vintage print materials. I have been teaching collage for 5 years in East Sydney .
Simon Welsh, based in Sydney has been doing collage for about 5 years. My work is often erotic, queer and playful. My style of collage is a less is more approach to wall art. I love to make new and intriguing ideas with subtle differences that challenge and stimulate the viewer.
My works sold out at the 2023 Incognito show. I have show cased my work around Australia and Europe. I am slowly making a name for myself. I work in small scale as my work is based from found mediums - print - books - magazines . I’ve been a finalist in major art prizes around the country.
