Thanks for engaging with my profile – I am Simone, an artist, healthcare practitioner, and mother living in Geelong.
I have always loved engaging in any form of creativity. After many years spent obtaining degrees in the health sector, having my first child inspired me to slow down and return to something I truly love doing – drawing and painting.
I draw most of my inspiration from the natural world, with most of my pieces being still life's of floral arrangements or fruit. I try to capture the beauty in the colour, detail, or form of these objects. Depending on which of these is my focus, my style varies between that which approaches realism; and that of looser more free-flowing forms.
Being an avid environmentalist, I am keen to find more ways to produce art in a sustainable manner. This involves exhausting my current supply of acrylics before moving on from this medium; experimenting with water-soluble oils, and continuing works in pencil and charcoal.
