This piece was inspired on a family holiday where walks along the water were our reset and pondering time. Breakwall supports wellbeing by fostering a peaceful atmosphere grounded in the enduring beauty of nature’s forces.
To protect ourselves, we too build our own 'Breakwalls' to shield from damage.

Hi, I'm Simone McD. My intuitive practice explores memory, feeling and adaptivity. My practice begins with memory, feeling and intuition. I create abstract paintings that emerge from an internal place.
Art has taken a deeper significance as I gradually lose fine and gross motor control due to a neurological disease. The physical act of painting is changing as my body changes, but the impulse remains. In this sense, painting has become an act of expression and an act of persistence. A reminder that creativity can endure, adapt and find new ways forward. Each painting holds a memory and a feeling from my experience, while leaving room for yours. I invite viewers to bring their own memories, emotions and experiences to the work.
