This is the Idea

It’s hard to pick a favourite from my latest collection. But I keep coming back to ‘This Is the Idea’. The simplicity of the black and yellow colour palette creates a dynamic interplay, hinting at the complexities in the layers, creating contrast. The vibrant yellow symbolises the birth of an idea, radiating positivity and the promise of a bright tomorrow. The ‘This is the Idea’ series explores the fluid nature of thought, not confined by boundaries or constraints. Painting freely ‘for me’ in my studio I embrace the uninhibited joy of exploration and discovery. I invite you to join me in finding the freedom to roam wherever your imagination may lead! 💡☀️

Transcending creative disciplines Sioux Tempestt creates abstract, mural, sculptural and digital art. Traversing across different mediums and scale of works enables Sioux to push creative boundaries. Through materiality and physicality, her expressive abstractions intuitively fuse colour and form. Her work aims to create a narrative and connection as Sioux believes art plays an intrinsic contribution to our wellbeing, health, and happiness.

Sioux’s studio-based practice explores paint and mixed media works on canvas and board; digital and photographic compositions; poetry and writing; video; sound and music. Working across other mediums such as metal, acrylic, wood and recycled materials Sioux creates 3D permanent and ephemeral sculptural public artworks. Large scale murals also form part of Sioux’s practice with over 50 painted throughout Perth.

Sioux has delivered 11 solo exhibitions and exhibited in numerous group shows. Recent achievements include Finalist, Mid West Art Prize 2023; Finalist, Town of Claremont Art Prize 2023; and Finalist, City of Stirling Art Award 2023.
