Lorelei was a water nymph who enchanted fishermen with her song. Her hair was copper red that flashed gold in the sunlight. She fell in love with a fisherman and experienced many weeks of romance before jealousy overtook her and she drowned him to keep him forever.
Lorelei literally translates to "murmuring rock".
