Sof Georgiou is an Greek -Australian painter based in Brisbane, whose work is driven by a fascination with light and its ability to transform place. He paints landscapes, seascapes, and cityscapes inspired by Queensland’s natural beauty.
Light sits at the core of his practice—casting long shadows, revealing hidden patterns, and creating unexpected rhythms across the surface. In his cityscapes, Sof explores the dialogue between old and new architecture and the quiet energy of everyday urban life.
Working primarily in an impressionistic style, his paintings often move toward abstraction . He favours an alla prima approach, using bold, loose brushwork and palette knife to capture immediacy, spontaneity, and a sense of movement.
Since 2011, Georgiou has exhibited across Australia, with works held in private collections throughout Australia, the United States, and Europe.
